While I’ve Been Away….

As I’ve been away for a couple of days I though I’d do a little update of all the things that has been happening since I’ve been away:
Windows Live becomes a Social Network
The next generation of Window live launched last week (in the US) as a Social Media platform. Messenger users are automatically connected with the friends they have on messenger and asked to develop their profile and upload and add content that they have created. Although I think that the new features are nice and less complicated now that all the Windows Live networks are together I can’t see this becoming a major rival to the likes of Myspace and Facebook.
Motrin
Over the weekend drugs company Motrin have managed to become another case study of ‘Getting Social Media’ wrong, and have generated a storm of negative comments across Twitter and Facebook from their latest ad campaign below:
As far as I’m aware there has been no response from Motrin or the creators of the ad Johnson and Johnson, which is their second mistake after not doing the appropriate research of understanding their target audience before creating the campaign.
Google’s New Chat Function on GMail
Last week Google added a new function to its current gmail
and messenger functions – the ability to have voice and video chat.
Being able to switch between the three functions will surely ensure
that this will be successful for users currently on gmail and may even
in the longer run become a threat to Skype.
